Bread & Company opens on West End, a prelude to Green Hills

Bread & Company opens on West End, a prelude to Green Hills

Bread & Company in Green Hill remains a shell of its former self – literally. But if you’re interested in what’s to come, you can now visit the West End location, which is open following updates completed by new owner, First Watch.

When First Watch originally bought Bread & Company in late 2014, they said the West End and Green Hills locations would retain the Bread & Company name while being renovated and undergoing other updates. The West End store opened on January 11 with Green Hills to follow this year.

According to a press release:
The West End restaurant will introduce “a new menu that features Bread & Company favorites along with an all-day full breakfast menu, fresh juices and an expanded tea and specialty coffee program. Bread & Company’s latest interior design combines natural, farm-fresh elements with a classic Nashville vibe in an inviting dining space that promotes communal congregation with a couch seating area as well as relaxed reclaimed wood tables and booths, nearly doubling its number of available seats.”

The holdover menu items from Bread & Company include Fruit Tea, Strawberry Fields Salad, Iroquois Chicken Salad Sandwich and house-made soups. New menu items from First Watch include Avocado Toast, Quinoa Power Bowls, Brioche French Toast and a BLT Eggs Benedict.

According to spokesperson Eleni Kouvatsos, First Watch approached the re-opening of Bread & Company after a lot of customer research and consideration, balancing what customer had come to expect with a desire to make upgrades to the space, menu and experience.

“(As an acquisition) Bread & Company is a unique situation for us,” Kouvatsos said. “We’ve never done anything like it before, so there was a lot of thought went into it.”

The Green Hills restaurant should open sometime in the second half of 2016, but it’s still unclear when. Currently, the entire structure remains gutted with only three walls standing … a reminder of the neighborhood’s past awaiting its update for the new Nashville.
